When it comes to your blog monetization, one of the first questions that come to mind is: “Should I choose Affiliate marketing or Google Adsense”?

This is a tricky question that confuses a lot of bloggers. And I must admit it did occupy my mind for a few months.

But initially, you might think that earning money from Google Adsense can be the better option.

Well, this might not always be the case.

You weren’t expecting that. Right?

Well, when I started my blog I was thinking just like you. I used to think that earning money from Google Adsense is the way to go.

And I did actually use Ads on my blog for the first 7 months. Right now, I have disabled ads on this blog.

Is this a good decision?

I am just doing some tests to see what kind of impact it will have.

Will I enable ads in the future?

Well, I guess so.

But, how can I claim that earning money from Affiliate marketing is better?

Well, it can be better if you know HOW to do it effectively

And to help you with that, I have a detailed guide on Affiliate marketing and how you can use your affiliate links to earn a full-time income.

Affiliate Marketing VS Google Adsense-Pros and cons

As I have said before, Affiliate marketing is better than Google Adsense.

I know it sounds quite odd, but here are the reasons why you should try affiliate marketing:

Advantages of Affiliate marketing

1.You will get approved easily

The chances of getting approved are significantly higher. There are far too many bloggers who got rejected by Google Adsense.

Now if you are wondering which affiliate program you would try first, I will say ShareAsale.

Why ShareASale?

Well, let me tell you how I ended up signing for ShareAsale.

In the first 2 months of my blogging journey, I applied for Google Adsense twice. And I got rejected both times.

It was really frustrating. I had been working so hard creating articles and Google Adsense rejected my application.

That was really discouraging.

So I did some research online to find alternatives for Google Adsense. I stumbled upon a blog where the blogger had previously applied for Google Adsense and got rejected 3 times. He then applied for ShareAsale and got approved within hours.

NOTE: The blogger was earning around $5,000 with affiliate marketing.

I thought why not give it a try and see how it works out.

And to my surprise, I got accepted the same day.

And if you are like me, you can imagine how excited I was to be accepted for an affiliate program.

That being said, I was not expecting to earn anything for the first few months. As many bloggers claimed that it takes at least 6 months to start to generate some income.

But to my great surprise, I earned $20 the first month.

Thanks to ShareAsale I was able to make my first $20 within 1 month.

I know it was not a lot of money, but it was enough to give me some hope that I will be able to make money online.

Now fast forward 9 months, I actually managed to make 10 sales. And that was for only 1 product.

Now you must be wondering why only 10 sales in 9 months.

The reason is very simple. I wanted to create as much content as possible for my new blog.

So, I didn’t focus a lot on affiliate marketing.

Once I reached 50 articles I started to focus more on Pinterest and Affiliate marketing.

And again to my surprise in Dec 2020 and Jan 2021 I was able to generate 9 more sales.

Pretty cool isn’t it?

Right now, I am learning a lot about affiliate marketing. And I hope that I will be able to generate at least $1,000 in the next 6 months.

If you are struggling to make money with your new blog, try ShareAsale. Who knows, it can be the platform that helps you earn your first dollar online.

2.Fastest way to earn a full-time income

The chance of earning a full-time income with affiliate marketing is much higher than Google Adsense. With Google Adsense, you can earn $50-$100 with 10,000 monthly pageviews.

But with affiliate marketing, you can easily earn $1,000-$2,500 with 10,000 monthly pageviews.

3.You will get your money faster

With Google Adsense, you will need to reach the minimum payment threshold before you can receive the money. Right now the minimum payout threshold for Google Adsense is $100.

With affiliate marketing, you will be able to get the money faster. Usually, the minimum payout threshold for some affiliate programs is $20-$50.

The thing is that to be able to reach $100 for Google Adsense, you will need to have a lot of traffic.

And I know how hard it is to generate traffic for a new blog. It can take you months to be able to bring that kind of traffic.

But affiliate marketing is different.

You won’t need that much traffic as a single sale can allow you to reach the minimum threshold.

The awesome thing about affiliate marketing is that you can just need 1 visitor to make a sale.

4.You will be able to diversify your offers

Making Google Adsense your only source of income can be very risky. Can you imagine if Google suspends your account?

In one instant, you will lose all your money.

I am sure you don’t want that to happen.

Now with affiliate marketing, you will be able to diversify your income with different affiliate programs.

Even if 1 affiliate program suspends your account, you will still be able to generate income from other sources.

So these were the reasons why you SHOULD choose affiliate marketing.

Now, it doesn’t mean that you cannot use Google Adsense. Of course your can.

Having Google Adsense + Affiliate marketing is the most effective way to maximize your blog’s income.

That being said, let’s now see some advantages of using Google Adsense.

Advantages of using Google AdSense

1.The easiest way to earn money a passive income

Once you have installed Google Adsense on your website, the only thing that you will need to focus on is generating traffic.

Depending on your blogging strategy, Google Adsense can be the best way to earn a Passive income.

If you haven’t yet installed Google Adsense, follow this super-easy guide to help you install Google Adsense in just a few minutes.

2.You can use a single account for different websites

Now if you have more than 1 website, you can use the same account. This is awesome because if you have a few websites that are generating at least 5,000 page views per month, you can easily earn a good income.

The exponential effect is huge.

This strategy works well if you are someone who is used to creating niche blogs.

3.You won’t need to worry about what keywords you are choosing

For affiliate marketing, there is a certain type of blog post that you should create.

For instance, “How to” and product reviews tend to perform better.

But the problem is that you will be limited to only certain types of content.

Which can impact your overall motivation and earnings.

I know how hard it is to create content for only specific keywords in the hope of generating a sale from your affiliate links.

Sometimes you will feel exhausted and restrained.

But with Google Adsense, that pressure is non-existent.

What I mean by that is you can create content on ANY type of keywords. It doesn’t matter if it will generate an affiliate sale or not.

The keyword just needs to be less competitive and have some monthly search volume.

If you see the potential here, you can easily understand that your only way to earn a passive income will be to generate enough traffic.

4.You can choose any ad network to earn more money

Google Adsense is not the only Ad network that you can use to earn a Passive income.

There are other Ad Networks that can help you earn more than Google Adsense.

One of my favorite ad networks is EZOIC

It is the best Ad network for any new blogger. Ezoic claims that their platform can help you earn 50%-250% more.

That’s pretty huge, isn’t it?

If you are earning $100 per month with Google Adsense, Ezoic can help you earn around $200-$250.

Who wouldn’t want that?

So why should you choose Ezoic?

Well, I am glad you asked:

Benefits of Using Ezoic:

  • Ezoic will do Ad testing for you, which will increase your revenue significantly. For instance, if you select only 5 possible ad placements, Ezoic will test around 3000 combinations to see which combination is generating the most revenue. This is a unique feature to help you get the most out of your ad placements.
  • You will get a detailed report which will help you know EVERYTHING about your visitors. You will be able to have insights on every single page which will inform you which page is performing best. With this data, you can increase your traffic on those pages, which in turn will increase your earnings more.
  • You will have complete control over the platform. You decide how many ads you want to place and where you want them to be displayed.
  • As you may have noticed, customer service from Google Adsense is almost non-existent. But with Ezoic, you will get the best customer service that exists for an ad network. Sometimes they will even reply to your query within minutes.
  • The payment threshold is only $20. It means that once you reach that threshold, you will be able to withdraw the money.

So, what are you waiting for?

Final thoughts: Affiliate marketing Vs Google Adsense- Which makes more money?

Using both Affiliate marketing and Google Adsense is the best way to maximize your blog’s income.

My advice is to try ShareAsale for your affiliate links and Ezoic as your Ad network.

The combination of both will make sure that you can at least earn a Part-time income within a few months of your blogging journey.

But one thing is important.

Whichever platform you are choosing, don’t forget that having Targeted traffic to your website should be your main concern.

This is because, without traffic, you won’t make money.

That being said, my favorite way of generating traffic is Pinterest. If you haven’t used Pinterest, it’s time to give it a try my friend.
