Though many people think that blogging and publishing on a niche site are the same, I must say that they have a significant difference.
There are two types of blogging models. One is the publisher model where the blogger hires writers to create content, the other one is a Personal blog: Where the content is infused with the personality of the blogger. Both blogging models have the potential to earn a full-time income.
Now it doesn’t mean that one is better than the other. Both are very lucrative business models.
The thing is: If you have enough resources (Money), you can choose to become a publisher. If your only resource is time, then you can create a personal blog.
You can convert your blog to a niche website anytime you want. For instance, many bloggers start by writing their content till they earn enough to hire writers.
That being said, which blogging model should you choose?
Well, to answer that, let’s discuss both models and see which one will be better for you.
The two most powerful blogging models:
Blogging model 1: Becoming a publisher
This model requires you to publish as much optimized content as you can for at least 1 year. Now you must be wondering WHY you should create so much content.
Well, according to Hubspot, to get organic traffic, NEW blogs must create as much optimized content as they can.

You don’t need to create awesome epic content. You just need to create content that has at least 1,200-1,500 words. You just need to provide useful information that people are searching for.
Now, here is the trick:
You will need to target keywords that have around (100-500) monthly search volumes.
The reason is your competitors won’t bother to create 2,000 words blog posts targeting keywords with low search volumes.
This is why when you target those keywords, you will easily get on Google’s first page. Most probably you will be in the top 3.
By creating as much optimized content as you can, you are claiming your URL for future ranking.
New content takes time to rank. It needs time to climb on the search results till it starts to bring traffic to your blog.
Now, here is the deal:
Once you reach 12 months of blogging, you should analyze your blog traffic and see which content is ranking on the first page.
Once you have that information, you can start to edit your content and make it better by including statistics, infographics, and images.
This ensures that you get the first spot on Google search results. And since many people are not targeting those keywords, you can be assured that these blog posts will be on the first spot for a few years.
Now, you don’t need to publish as much content as before as you have enough content to get some momentum.
For instance, if you created 3-5 blog posts per week, you will have around 144-240 blog posts on your blog.
This is where you can choose to either hire writers to create more content for you, or you can continue to create content if that makes you happy.
For someone who decides to build a team of writers, they will get these benefits:
- Have more time to search for keywords with higher search volumes
- Making your old content better
- Promoting your best content on social media
- Creating other niche websites
Is this blogging model viable?
Of course, it is. There are far too many people who are using this blogging model and making roughly $4,000-$7,000 in their second year of blogging.
If you want to have a lot of websites in the future this is the best blogging model.
Important things to know about the publisher model:
1.Target one topic at a time
It’s really important to spend time creating content on a single topic and dive deep into covering all the keywords that you can.
This will be proof that your blog is an authority website in a specific niche and you will be blessed with increased organic traffic.
2.Monetize your blog with AdSense and Affiliate marketing
The purpose of having a niche website is to mainly monetize through ads. Actually, you can earn a lot more with ads if you use the right ad network.
Instead of using Google Adsense, you can use ad networks like Ezoic or Adthrive to increase your ad earning exponentially. These Ad networks will make sure that you earn maximum revenue for your traffic.
And of course, you can add some affiliate links to increase your earning. But your main source of income will be with Ads.

Waiting for at least 15 months is crucial before you start to see the full potential for your blog.
With this blogging model, the earnings will be very low initially. This is because your content needs enough time to get ranking.
Why 15 months?
This is because once your domain reaches the 1-year mark, it will start to grow exponentially.
The thing is: Your blog posts need at least 8 months to mature in the search engine. If you create 10 articles in your first month, it will take those articles at least 8 months to reach their full potential.
Here is the usual trend:
Articles created in the first month- Will generate traffic on month 9
Articles created in the second month- Will generate traffic on month 10
Articles created in the third month- Will generate traffic on month 11
Articles created in the fourth month- Will generate traffic on month 12
So, how much traffic you get after 12 months of blogging will be determined by how much-optimized content you published in the first 4 months.
My dear friend, patience is the most crucial thing when it comes to building any kind of business. Far too many people give up within their 6 months of blogging. They cannot wait for their blog posts to mature enough.
No wonder why they claim that blogging is a waste of time.
That being said, let’s see how the other blogging model works.
Blogging model 2: Creating a personal blog
This is a very popular blogging model because it’s more convenient to create your blog and write the content all by yourself.
Now, what I have noticed is this:
Many personal bloggers are earning a least $10,000-$20,000 per month. But this is not the majority.
Here is the truth:

More than 60% of bloggers earn less than $501 per month.
And I am sure they really don’t know which blogging strategy will be better for them.
That being said, let’s see how blogging model 2 works:
1.Target keywords with high search volumes
This blogging model requires creating the best content that exists on the web. Here you will target keywords with (3,000-10,000) monthly search volumes.
This model has one thing that I don’t like. You will be always worried about your ranking as everyone in your niche will be trying to get the first spot.
If you really like competition and you WANT to become the best in your niche, then this blogging model is for you.
2.Create the best content
Here quality matters far more than quantity. Your only chance of getting on Google’s first page is by creating better content.
By better content I mean:
- Content that has at least 4,000-10,000 words
- Content that has unique information. Information that is really difficult to find on the web.
- Content that has statistics, pictures, videos, and infographics.
- The content must have lots of backlinks to have a chance of competing with authority sites.
Speaking of backlinks:
3.You should do a lot of backlinking to your content
If you choose blogging model 2, then you WILL have to do create enough backlinks. Actually, you will have to create a campaign just to acquire backlinks.
I am not an expert on backlinks at all. If you want to everything about backlinks, then you can learn more at Backlinko.
4.Apply different monetization techniques
This blogging model will require you to monetize your blog from different sources such as:
- Affiliate marketing
- Courses or ebooks
- Sponsored posts
If you are an extrovert, then this blogging model will be a better fit for you. As you will need to reach out to many bloggers, create connections and be very close to your audience.
Now that we have discussed both blogging models, it’s time for you to know how you will bring traffic to your blog.
How to bring traffic to your blog
Getting organic traffic from Google takes time. But, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t optimize your content to have a better chance of getting a higher ranking.
Generating enough ORGANIC traffic for your blog is crucial to building a sustainable online business.
Here is how you optimize your content for organic traffic:
Now, if you want traffic really fast to your new blog, then the best solution is to use social media. There are many social media platforms that perform really well.
But for bloggers, I have noticed that Pinterest tends to work really well.
As far as I know, Pinterest is the quickest way to generate huge traffic to a new blog.
So, how can you do that?
Here is how you can use Pinterest to bring massive traffic to your blog:
- Apply the best marketing strategies for Pinterest
- Optimize your boards with Keywords
- Use manual pinning if you don’t want to invest money in a scheduling tool
Final thoughts: The best blogging model to make money
If you are an introvert and you will hire writers in the future, then the Publisher model will be perfect for you.
Now, if you are an extrovert and want to connect with your readers and create loyal fans, then the Personal blog model will be perfect for you.
Though many people choose the personal model, I have seen more and more people building niche sites during the past few years.
This is because creating a niche site gives you more flexibility in terms of content and time you allocate to your blog.
I prefer the publisher model because I will get the opportunity to hire writers in the future and dedicate more time to creating new sites.
I hope this blog post will help you determine which blogging model is better suited for you.
See you soon!
