Pros and cons of starting your fashion blog without showing your face

Before we get started, I would like you to understand that blogging is actually much easier than you think.

This is the new rat race for new bloggers which you should absolutely avoid.

Don’t worry, I will show you exactly how to approach blogging so that you don’t make the same blogging mistakes that I made when I started this blog.

That being said, let’s see the pros of cons of having a fashion blog without showing your face.

SPECIAL NOTE: 95% of aspiring bloggers who start a blog fail. Do you know why?

It's because they are not using the right blogging strategy and they don't know the REAL TIMELINE for a blog.

Did you know, that you can build a successful blog by spending only 1- 2 hours per day on your blog? Well, if you use MY BLOGGING STRATEGY, you will be able to do that.

Pros of starting your fashion blog without showing your face

1. It is the best way that can guarantee your safety

Starting a blog using your name can bring unwanted attention which can make you vulnerable to any type of attack.

This will be really crucial especially when you are starting to make a lot of money. That’s why it is always recommended not to use your home address for your online business.

Pro tip: Remember to hide your name and email address so that anyone who is looking on WHOIS is not able to find out who you are.

2. You will have the power of privacy

Private life is indeed a very happy life. Can you imagine being able to make a full-time income without anyone knowing what is going on in your life?

3. You will have the flexibility to write about controversial topics

When you start to write about controversial topics, you will attract negative people into your life. This is almost inevitable as most people on this planet don’t have anything going on in their life.

They prefer to spend their time commenting and criticizing people and dumping their negative energies so that they can feel happier.

This is exactly what happened when I started my blog. In the beginning, my content was really bad and I was not able to write properly.

This was the perfect opportunity for some negative people to comment on my blog:

  • I won’t be able to make my blog work.
  • My writing is really bad. I am wasting my time on blogging and I should probably find a 9 to 5 job.
  • My title sucks.
  • Delete my blog as it is full of crappy content.

Well, these comments were enough to make me feel horrible about building an online business and I really wanted to delete my blog.

But I deleted all those comments and continued to create content. And right now I have around 130 blog posts on this blog and I have received a lot of positive feedback from people who thanked me for helping them.

4. You will be able to take more risks with your blog

Blogging is a journey where you will make a lot of mistakes and you will have to make minor adjustments so that you can make it work.

Not associating your name with your blog will give you the confidence you need to take risks and treat it more like a business.

As far as I know, blogging anonymously is the best way to build an online business that guarantees constant income without bringing negativity into your life.

But that will happen only when you have created enough content till your blog starts to get enough momentum.

Cons of Starting Your Fashion Blog Without Showing Your Face

1. You won’t get recognition for your efforts

Some people get a lot of confidence boosts and an adrenaline rush when their name is associated with success.

I am not one of those people. I like to remain anonymous about my life and enjoy the little success I get.

This helps me to remain focused and live a very peaceful life.

Now, if you really like fame, then starting your fashion blog anonymously won’t be a good idea.

2. You might miss a few connections in your industry

Having a blog associated with your name can sometimes help you get a few connections that can help your blog.

On the other hand, no one will want any kind of networking or link sharing with an anonymous blog.

But that doesn’t mean you cannot build a sustainable online business.

For instance, Jon Dykstra is a blogger who has multiple niche websites and makes around $80,000 per month with ads only. He doesn’t do any link-building, nor try to reach out to other bloggers.

The thing with blogging is: If you are constantly creating quality content, you will attract natural links and people will reach out to you.

Right now, almost every day I get requests from many people who want to create content for me for free. (Do the work and people will come looking for you).

How much money can you make if you start your fashion blog without showing your face?

Making money with your blog is not that difficult at all. Actually, the most important thing is to get enough traffic so that you can use display ads and affiliate links.

For instance, if you are publishing at least 3 to 4 articles PER WEEK, you can easily make $1,000 per month in just 1 year.

Here is the usual trend for your fashion blog in your first year:

Now, if ever you decide to continue to publish content for at least 10 years, then this is how much your blog can make at the end of your 10th year of blogging.

YearNumber Of ArticlesPotential Earnings Per Month
1144$1,000- $10,000
2288$10,000-$30,000
3432$30,000- $50,000
4576$50,000- $100,00
5720$100,000- $250,000
6864$250,000 – $350,000
71,008$350,000- $500,000
81,152$500,000- $600,000
91,296$600,000- $800,000
101,140$800,000- $1,000,000

So, would you like to make at least $800,000 per month in 10 years?

For sure, blogging is not a get-rich-quick scheme. But it has amazing potential if you choose to keep publishing fresh content on your blog.

If ever you have a 9 to 5 job and want to leave it, then having a blog is the best side hustle that can help you achieve your dreams.

That being said, let’s see how you can start your fashion blog anonymously.

How to start a fashion blog without showing your face

1. Come up with a few topics for your fashion blog

Before you start your blog, it’s crucial to know which topics will be a good choice for your fashion blog.

Here are a few popular categories for your fashion blog:

  • Fashion bags
  • Women’s shoes
  • Men’s shoes
  • Jewelry and accessories
  • Lingerie
  • Hats
  • Eyewear
  • Luxury fashion
  • Street Fashion
  • Sustainable styles
  • Local designers
  • Online shopping
  • Product reviews
  • DIY fashion trends
  • Sewing tutorials
  • Handmade Fashion
  • Fashion news
  • Personal style
  • Wedding style
  • Interior design
  • Fashion model
  • Fashion memes
  • Fashion photography

In the beginning, you can choose at least 5 topics and see which one will perform better on Google Search.

What I have noticed is this:

For any blog, there are at least 2 topics that tend to perform really well. Once you know which topics are bringing traffic, you need to double down your efforts on these and create as much content as you can.

2. Choose your domain name

Now that you have your topics figured out, the next step is to choose your domain name. You can choose any domain name that you want, provided it is related to your niche.

It’s important to know that choosing a very smart domain name doesn’t help in getting a higher ranking or more traffic. This is a huge mistake many people make while choosing their domain name.

Actually, your domain name should be broad enough so that you can write on broader topics down the road.

If you are struggling with your domain name, you can head over to Leandomainseach and just type a word that is related to your niche.

Here is an example:

3. Choose a good hosting

When choosing a hosting company, you should look at two vital things. First is what percentage uptime you will get (how much time your blog will be online) and the customer service.

For the uptime anything above 99.5% is good.

As far as I know, Bluehost will give you an uptime of 99.8% and they have really fantastic customer service. Whenever you will have any issues, they will try to fix them within 5 minutes.

Also, you will get a Free domain name and SSL certificate for only $2.95 per month if you use my special link.

4. Choose the right blogging platform

When it comes to blogging, WordPress is the best content management software. Though there are other companies like Web.com, Wix, Gator, Blogger, Medium, Squarespace, and Weebly that can be used for blogging, WordPress is the best.

When I say WordPress, I don’t mean WordPress.com. I mean using WordPress.org.

5. Install WordPress

Now that you have chosen your blogging platform, the next step is to install WordPress. Don’t worry, you don’t need to have any knowledge about coding to be able to create your own blog.

Head over to my super easy guide that will help you build your WordPress blog in less than 10 minutes.

6. Build a solid foundation for your blog

Once you have installed WordPress, the next step is to build a solid foundation for your blog. This will prevent any unwanted issues in the future which can be quite frustrating and time-consuming to deal with.

Also, having a strong foundation will help your blog perform at its best so that it can load faster and get a higher ranking on Google.

Here is my step-by-step guide to help you create a solid foundation for your fashion blog.

7. Target the right keywords

There is a myth about blogging and it goes like this: Target keywords with high search volume and low competition which will make sure you get a lot of traffic.

First of all, there is no keyword with a high search volume that is not competitive. All these keywords are targeted by authority sites. If ever you choose to target these keywords, your chance of building a profitable blog decreases exponentially.

So, what is the solution?

Well, you should target keywords that have low search volumes with low competition. Since these keywords are not targeted by authority sites, you have a better chance to get on Google’s first page.

Once your blog starts to get momentum and you have built enough authority, you can then target keywords with high search volumes.

This is the most important thing to understand if you want to have a chance to succeed online. If you are targeting the wrong keyword, you W’ONT be able to get any traction. Your content will have to be absolutely the best on the web to even have a chance of getting on Google’s first page.

So, how do you find these keywords?

Well, there are two ways you can do it.

  1. Use Google auto-suggest
  2. Use Google Keyword planner

Pro tip: You don’t need to buy any premium keyword research tool to find awesome keywords.

8. Structure your blog posts to get on Google’s first page

There is a certain way you need to format your blog posts so that you can get a higher ranking on Google.

There are two things you should know when it comes to getting on Google’s first page or even getting the number one spot.

If you follow these two techniques together with targeting low-competition keywords, you WILL get on the first page.

9. Know the real timeline for your blog

Far too many new bloggers give up on their blogs in less than 6 months. And I completely understand how they must feel when they are not getting results.

The thing is:

Google must first trust your blog to give you traffic. Since Google has to maintain its reputation, it will show only content that is the most relevant based on a search query.

First Google will show some of your content to its users and see how people are reacting to the content. Then after 8 months, your blog post will reach its full potential where it will get the best ranking.

Now, once your blog is more than 1 year old, new blog posts will take only 35 weeks to reach their full potential.

That’s why it takes anywhere between 6-12 months for many blogs to get some momentum. Actually, if your niche is more competitive, it can take anywhere between 15-20 months to get some serious traffic.

This is what happened to this blog. Since this blog is mainly about blogging and online business (competitive niche), getting traffic from Google has been a real struggle.

A quick preview of my blog’s ORGANIC traffic on ubbersuggest gives this:

As you can see, after 1 year of blogging I am getting only 136 monthly sessions, and the weird thing is that I had already written 110 blog posts.

Now, why I am not giving up on my blog?

The simple answer is: Since my niche is very competitive, it will take around 15-20 months to get some momentum with Google.

If I didn’t know this timeline for sure I would have given up on this blog long ago.

Now, if your niche is not that competitive, then you can get traction earlier.

Here is my detailed guide to help you understand how your blog will perform each month for the first 2 years.

10. Find another source of traffic

If you are someone who is impatient and cannot wait for long to get traffic to your fashion blog, then the only solution is to use Pinterest.

Though I am not generating a lot of traffic, it’s enough for the time being as I can make a good income with this blog.

Here is how much traffic a single pin can generate in 1 month:

As you can see, Pinterest is really powerful when it comes to generating traffic.

Here is how I am using Pinterest to bring massive traffic to my blog.
