So you are wondering how many blog posts you need before you start to get some traffic?
Well, if you are planning to start a blog, then maybe you will get suggestions like publishing weekly or twice weekly and sometimes daily.
But, you can get success with your blog even if you don’t stick to a specific schedule.
For instance, you can generate a lot of traffic even if you have 25 blog posts. But for that, you will need to leverage Pinterest.
If you use Pinterest, the number of blog posts you have becomes almost irrelevant.
I have seen people with only 45 blog posts earning $10,000 per month.
That’s insane, right?
This is the power of Pinterest, my friend.
Now, if you want organic traffic, then the number of posts you have has a direct correlation with your traffic.
Let’s see what experts are telling about the ideal posting schedule.
According to Hubspot:

To get Organic traffic: You should post as often as you can. If you are a new blogger, then 3-4 blogs per week are recommended.
For brand awareness: You should post 1-2 times per week.
So, based on these findings, it makes sense that you should add new content as often as you can.
Now, is there any number of posts that you must have to guarantee significant traffic from Google?
Here is a simple answer:
- Your FIRST 50 blog posts will bring you a little traffic and money.
- Your NEXT 50 blog posts will bring you more traffic and money.
- If your blog has 400 blog posts, it will perform at its best in terms of organic traffic.
This is not always the case.
If you don’t target the right keywords, then you will never get such results.
I have seen far too many people complaining about not getting enough traffic from Google.
The thing is they never do keyword research and write about what THEY think people are searching for.
So, the question is:
How can you approach blogging so that your chance of getting organic traffic increases significantly?
How to get maximum organic traffic?
1.Use long-tail keywords
Long-tail keywords are keywords that contain 3 or more words. For instance:
- “Wedding” and “Wedding planners” are short-tail keywords.
- “How to plan a wedding” and the “best wedding planner” are long-tail keywords.
Using long-tail keywords with low search volumes(100-500) are keywords that you can easily get ranked for.
Most people in the industry will advise you to choose keywords that have 5000-10,000 monthly search volumes. But these keywords are really competitive as most of the blogs in your niche will target these keywords.
It can take you just 1-2 years to get on the first page and with a lot of backlinks.
On the other hand, low competition keywords are not targeted by most blogs in your niche, thereby increase your chance of getting the number 1 spot on Google search.
2.Optimize your content for your readers
If people love to read your content, you will be successful.
For instance, if you don’t like the way I write or cannot understand what I say, will you ever read my content again?
I guess no.
And the thing is: Google is really smart.
If people are leaving your blog without reading your content, it is a signal that your content is not relevant to people’s search queries or that the content is not good enough.
Since the time spent on your content is a ranking factor, you should strive to create good content.
Hence, creating engaging content which is easy to read is the only best way to guarantee you get a higher ranking which will eventually lead to more traffic.
Here is how much CTR (Click through rate) content gets on Google search:

As you can see, the first 3 listings do get a lot of clicks.
Pro tip: You should always strive to get on the first 4 positions on search results. And with low competition keywords, you can easily get that.
3.Blog more often
This is perhaps the most effective way to increase your blog traffic significantly.
Actually, if you can create 16 blog posts per month, you will get 3.5 times more traffic than someone who is only creating 4 posts per month.
But what if you want to acquire more customers?
Well, you should update your blog more often.
According to Hubspot here are some interesting stats:

As you can see, there is a definite advantage of adding a new blog post every day.
You will get more customers and traffic.
I know, it’s really hard publishing every day. So how can you do that?
Well, here is a simple solution.
For the low competition keywords (100-500 monthly search volumes), you can easily create content with 1,200-1,500 words.
You don’t need to create 5,000 words of epic content all the time.
Depending on the blogging strategy you will use, I am more than confident to say that you can get seriously a lot of traffic with content that has 1,200 to 1,500 words.
Pro tip: Not everyone has the time to read a 5,000 words blog posts. People want quick answers to their problems.
4.Structure your blog posts to get more traffic
There is a way you should structure all your blog posts to get maximum traffic.
Though creating content for your readers is paramount, it doesn’t mean you should ignore to optimize your content to get a higher ranking. I am sure you must have come across blog posts that seem to be really very consistent with the way the content is presented.
5.Do a lot of internal linking
Once you have created enough content, you will need to link them properly to guide your readers to more relevant content.
Here is the trick:
Let’s say you have a few blog posts that convert really well with affiliate links.
For you to generate more money, you will need more people to visit that blog post.
The best way is to create other types of related content and link them to your MONEY pages.
This is the right way to monetize your best content.
I understand it can be really frustrating to manually add links to all your content.
That’s why you should use a plugin.
The plugin I am using right now is Internal Link Juicer.
It’s completely free and super easy to use.
Here is how you can use it effectively.
6.Promote your content on social media
Though I cannot CONFIRM that social media signal is a ranking factor, I am certain that it will help you generate a lot of traffic.
There is a lot of competition right now. People from all over the planet are creating content regularly.
4.4 million blog posts are posted EVERY DAY.
That’s really huge.
But, there is a piece of good news.
Most of the content is not optimized for SEO and only a handful of people are targeting the right keywords.
This is where you will outperform almost every new aspiring blogger.
That being said, if you are really confident that your content is good enough, promote the hell out of it.
You can use any social media platform of your choice.
Final thoughts: How many blog posts you need before getting traffic
As you can see, if you are using Pinterest to generate traffic, having at least 25 blog posts will be enough to generate at least 10,000 monthly views.
But, for organic traffic, you will need to publish as much content as humanly possible.
This is the most effective way to rank for enough keywords so that you get a CONSTANT flow of organic traffic.
That being said, I prefer to create more content and use Pinterest to leverage my blog’s traffic.
This does 2 things:
- I am securing more permanent links for the future.
- I am generating enough traffic to earn a part-time income.
That’s all I am doing for this blog.
So, if you are really worried about your blog’s traffic, then maybe it’s time to use Pinterest.
See you soon!
