So, how many blog posts do you actually need before you launch your blog?
This is a question that many aspiring bloggers ask themselves.
When they search online or ask any successful blogger, most probably they will get all sorts of answers.
Why is that so?
Because everyone is different and approaches blogging differently.
For instance, many new bloggers will write a lot of blog posts initially as they are fired up and all excited about their new blog.
The thing is that: They will write around 10-20 articles in excitement and then after a few months they will slacken. When the excitement starts to fade out, so does the motivation for writing new content.
On the other end of the spectrum, you will have some that will launch their blog without any content. They will spend their time finding the best themes, and plugins, and spend a lot of time tweaking their new blog. The way their blog looks, the type of email subscription plugins, or the color palette is far more important.
It’s as if the aesthetic of their website will bring you money.
Often these people will take a very long time to get some momentum. By momentum, I mean creating content. They can actually create a few blog posts after a few months.
Now, between these two extremes, there is a much better way to start your blogging journey.
SPECIAL NOTE: 95% of aspiring bloggers who start a blog fail. Do you know why? It's because they are not using the right blogging strategy and they don't know the REAL TIMELINE for a blog. Did you know, that you can build a successful blog by spending only 1- 2 hours per day on your blog? Well, if you use MY BLOGGING STRATEGY, you will be able to do that.
How many blog posts do your need before launch?
You will need to have at least 3-5 blog posts already written before your launch your blog. By doing so, you will have a better idea if you really like the topic you are writing about and if you will be able to create content in the long run.
Is it absolutely necessary?
Of course not, you can launch your blog with only 1 blog post.
How do I launch my blog?
This little baby was born in April 2020 and had its first content on the 30th of April 2020.
Based on that, you must be thinking about why I didn’t write any content before the launch.
Well, I actually didn’t know that you need to have a few blog posts before launch.
As an amateur blogger, I knew nothing.
After 9 months of blogging, I managed to create around 75 blog posts.
Is that enough?
Nopes…
I need to create more content. Since a good rule is to publish 3-4 per week.
During my 9 months of blogging, I have made countless mistakes that I could have easily avoided.
That being said, let’s see what’s the ideal way to launch a blog.

The best way to launch your blog
Your ideal launch should include a combination of Niche research, Keyword research, and blog post work.
If you do the planning well, you will have a solid foundation for your blog.
You will need to understand, that keyword research, posting optimized content regularly and promotion are the most important tasks for your blog.
Anything else is secondary.
Even making money?
Yes.
Your priority should be to bring enough traffic first. If you can bring enough traffic, the money will follow.
That being said, here is how you should launch your blog.
1. Write a few articles
The first step is to decide on what topic you will write about. Is your goal to earn money with your blog or do you just want to write for fun?
If you are starting a blog to make money, then you should choose a profitable niche.
If it’s for fun, you can write about anything you want to.
Now, if you are having difficulty choosing a specific niche, you can start writing a few articles and see what topic really resonates with you. This is how I started my blog. And it worked out pretty well.
How can you generate some ideas for your blog posts?
You can head over to Google and type a word and let it give you some suggestions.
For instance, if you want to write about making money online, Google suggests these keywords:

You can also reverse the keywords. for instance “How can I make money” can become ” 10 Reasons why you are not making enough money”.
Now, you can also scroll all the way to the end of the search results and you will get some more ideas:

These keywords are related, hence they will make awesome blog post ideas.
Next, you can head over to the Blog title generator and type a keyword. For instance, if I type “making money online” I get these results:

Now, you can generate some really interesting ideas if you press on to generate more titles:

Your first list of keywords should contain around 20-30 blog post titles. It’s better to have this list on an excel sheet. This will be your main list of keywords that you will use in the future.
Later you can categorize each topic for your blog in a new tab.
2. Create a few blog posts
Take a few ideas from your lists and start to write your content. Make sure to focus on one content at a time.
While creating blog posts, you need to focus all your attention on the current content.
Now, you can use any software for your writing. But it will be much better if you use a platform that will enhance your writing.
For instance, you can use Grammarly. It is the best grammar checker on the web right now.
You don’t need to make everything perfect the first time. Your first blog post is to help you get used to writing.
But make sure that the content is related to your niche.
Once you have created a few articles, you will start to get an idea about the topics that you like.
Once you figured out what you really like, it will be time to start your own WordPress blog.
But, before you launch your blog, make sure you have at least 3-to 5 articles.
When you are new to blogging, you will spend at least 1-2 weeks learning WordPress and SEO.
So, it’s better to have content that will last the first 2 weeks.
3. Start your blog
Now it’s time for some technical stuff. I know the word “Technical sounds boring”, but you have to create your blog.
This is a crucial stage where many people tend to give up. They think that building a blog on WordPress is really complicated.
Actually, if you use Bluehost, they will automatically set up your blog when you sign in.
Pretty cool isn’t it?

4. Write quality content
People believe that quality content means long blog posts(3,000-10,000) words.
But this is not the truth.
You can have 1,200-1,500 words of content that are really good.
Initially, when you are writing articles focus on writing short but informative content.
The thing is that people don’t have enough time to read long blog posts. The average time a person can spend reading a blog post is around 7 minutes.
And that is around 1,750 words.
So, a win-win situation for both you and your audience is to write informative content on things that people are searching for.
For instance, doing keyword research before writing content is something that determines your success or failure in the industry.
So, the most effective type of content for a new blogger is content that:
- Targets low competition keywords
- Helps people to solve their problems
- Contains images, statistics, graphs, and videos
- Is easy to read
- Has no grammar mistakes
If you follow these few crucial points, then for sure you WILL be able to build a successful blog.

5. Create a blogging schedule
A blog that creates content regularly will get a better ranking on Google, generate more traffic, and will earn more money.
It’s really that simple.
According to Hubspot, the ideal frequency is 3-4 times per week.
Now, to be able to pull that off, you must create a content calendar.
I cannot emphasize how much it’s important to be consistent.
Now you must be thinking if you really need to create 3-4 articles per week.
Well if you cannot, then find what frequency is best for you.
If you can only post 2 times per week, then for sure do it. For instance, I have been posting around 2 times per week.
But, it is really taking a lot of time for my blog to get organic traffic. So, I have decided to increase the frequency to 3-4 times per week.
I want to know what kind of impact it will have on my organic traffic. I will give you the updates very soon.
So, how can you create a blog schedule?
Well, it’s not that complicated.
Keep everything simple.
Set aside 1-2 hours every day to create content.
In 2 hours, you can easily write around 800-1,000 words if you know your niche well.
For people who are really struggling to create content, here is the trick.
Sit down, and write your introduction only. You will notice that once the introduction is completed, you will be motivated to write more.
If in your head, you put a target of writing ONLY 300 words per day, the mere act of writing will lead you to write an entire blog post.
So next time you don’t feel like writing, just try to write 300 words.
You will thank me for that.
If you have a 9 to 5 job, then you can try this blogging schedule:
Blogging schedule:
- In the morning (during weekdays) you can spend at least 1 hour creating content for your blog. (5 hours)
- In the afternoon (during weekdays) you can spend another 1-hour creating content. (5 hours)
- On weekends: 2 hours in the morning (Creating content) and 3 hours in the afternoon(Editing your content)
In one week, you will have (5+5+4+6)= 20 hours
20 hours per week is more than enough to create 2-3 articles.
6. Use social media to bring traffic to your new blog
Traffic from Google takes time. It can take your blog post anywhere between 6-8 months to get some traffic.
So, it will be advisable to use a social media platform meanwhile to generate some traffic.
The only platform that you can dedicate time to is Pinterest. If you want massive traffic, Pinterest is your best option.
Here is how I am using Pinterest to bring massive traffic to my blog.
SPECIAL NOTE: When it comes to making money with ads, EZOIC is the best option for new bloggers. This is because it has no minimum traffic requirement and new websites will get the highest RPM. Create your Ezoic account now, and start to make money with ads.
What else do you need to know when you launch your blog?
Blogging is really not that complicated. It becomes complicated when you try to do everything at once.
For instance, if you focus on only one thing for a month, you can see a massive difference in your productivity.
So, here are a few things that you should know so that in the future you don’t give up.
- Learn one thing at a time and master it well.
- In the beginning, your main focus should be to reach at least 50 articles.
- While doing keyword research, make sure to find at least 10-15 keywords. Then focus all your time on writing.
- Don’t try to multitask. Multitasking decreases productivity by 40%.
- Try to do only 2 important tasks per day.
- Blogging takes time. So, create content at your OWN pace.
- Have realistic expectations. Don’t expect to earn $5,000 in the first few months. Aiming for $1,000 at the end of 1 year of blogging is a realistic goal.
- You can expect exponential growth for your blog between 10-18 months. Make sure to stick to blogging till it reaches its full potential.
Final thoughts: How many blog posts do you need before your launch
Having 3-5 articles is enough to launch a new blog. But, you should always remember that having a strong foundation is really crucial as blogging is a long journey.
A journey that can change your life forever.

Excellent post! I enjoyed reading your post. I definitely need to get a blogging schedule, though I’ve been blogging fairly regularly for the last little while.
I started in November and have 28 posts. I started with just one post as well.
That is a good suggestion to use Grammarly. I use it myself.
Look forward to reading more of your posts.
Thank you Chris.
Having a blogging schedule will help you create more content.
Happy blogging. Cheers
