When it comes to blog monetization, there are a few methods that work well:

Ads and affiliate marketing are the most effective way to make money with a new blog.

There is a lot of confusion over how many pageviews you will need to earn a decent amount. This is something that seems very important on the surface.

So, is it really important to have 100,000 monthly pageviews to earn a full-time income?

The simple answer is no.

Let’s simplify everything and see the earning potential for each method.

SPECIAL NOTE: If you are struggling with blog traffic, you can use Pinterest to bring massive traffic to your new blog.

Making money with your new blog can sometimes be very frustrating. That's why you should implement different strategies to earn maximum revenue. Here are 14 ways to make money with your new blog.

How many pageviews to make money:

1. Using ads on your blog

Placing ads on your blog is the easiest way to earn some side income. You just have to add a code to your WordPress blog. The only thing that you should be concerned about will be generating enough blog traffic.

Simple and easy.

But, there are a few things that you will need to know.

When your blog is brand new, your average RPM (Revenue per thousand impressions) will be very low. Usually between $1 to $5.

If you are getting most of your traffic from countries like the USA, Canada, or the United Kingdom, then it will be higher.

Let’s say that your Page’s RPM is $3.

To earn $1,000 with ads, you will need to have at least 300,000 monthly pageviews.

That’s really hard to achieve.

So what can you do?

Well, a better solution will be to increase your Page’s RPM.

You can easily increase your RPM up to $15 in a few months.

With an RPM of $15, you will need around 65,000 monthly pageviews to reach $1,000.

That is something you can achieve in your first year of blogging.

So, do you want to increase your Page’s RPM?

I am sure you want to.

Then head over to this simple guide and learn how you can increase your Page’s RPM.

SPECIAL NOTE: There are many reasons why Google Adsense will reject your application. But, if you follow the Google Adsense 6 Month Rule, your website will get accepted.

Once your request is accepted, the next thing to do is to BLOCK low-paying ads so that you can make at least $5 PER DAY with Google Adsense.

Now, there is another solution that is easier and faster.

Have you ever thought of using an ad network other than Google Adsense?

Did you know that if you use an ad network like Ezoic, you will be able to increase your earnings a lot?

Actually, Ezoic claims that if you use their platform you will be able to increase your Adsense earnings by 50%-250%.

So why would you choose Ezoic?

Benefits of using Ezoic:

  • Ezoic will do Ad testing for you, which will increase your revenue significantly. For instance, if you select only 5 possible ad placements, Ezoic will test around 3,000 combinations to see which combination is generating the most revenue. This is a unique feature to help you get the most out of your ad placements.
  • You will get a detailed report which will help you know EVERYTHING about your visitors. You will be able to have insights on every single page which will inform you which page is performing best. With this data, you can increase your traffic on those pages, which in turn will increase your earnings more.
  • You will have complete control over the platform. You decide how many ads you want to place and where you want them to be displayed.
  • As you may have noticed, customer service from Google Adsense is almost non-existent. But with Ezoic, you will get the best customer service that exists for an ad network. Sometimes they will even reply to your query within minutes.
  • The payment threshold is only $20. It means that once you reach that threshold, you will be able to withdraw the money.

Pro tip: You don’t need any minimum traffic requirement to get accepted on Ezoic.

Many people think that affiliate marketing is really complicated. But the truth is you can earn far more money than ads.

Don’t believe me?

Did you know that with only 5,000 monthly pageviews, you can earn around $1,000 – $1,500?

Pretty impressive isn’t it?

Now getting 5,000 monthly pageviews is easier than 65,000.

For a new blog to reach 5,000 monthly pageviews, it takes only 4-6 months.

Now, this is how you will earn at least $1,000 within the first 6 months. If your focus has been ads only, it’s time to give affiliate marketing a try my friend.

Let me tell you how I got started with affiliate marketing.

At the beginning of my blogging journey, I applied for Google Adsense and got rejected 2 times. The third time I got lucky. Haha.

Anyway, rejection made me look for alternatives.

Then I stumbled on a blog post, where the blogger was earning maybe around $5,000 per month with affiliate marketing.

It got me thinking.

Well, I can try that. What if it works?

I applied for ShareAsale and to my surprise, I earned $20 within 1 month with ONLY 1 sale.

So, if you are really struggling to earn a few bucks with your blog, I will suggest that you try an affiliate program. You might never know, it can be the start of something very special for you.

That being said, once you have applied for your Affiliate program, the next step is to learn Affiliate marketing. Trust me, it’s easier than you think.

It can help you earn your first $1,000 within a few months.

So, should you buy an ebook to learn Affiliate marketing?

Not really.

I have 2 resources that will help you learn affiliate marketing inside out. At least enough for you to earn your first $1,000. Don’t forget to check them out.

3. Using sponsored content

Once your blog starts to get some traffic, you will be approached by people and companies who will ask you to do Sponsored Posts. If I can remember, I got a few requests in the third or fourth month.

The thing is that you don’t need a lot of traffic to earn money from sponsored content. Even if you are getting only 2,000-3,000 monthly visitors, you can write sponsored posts.

Now, one thing you should keep in mind. They will often offer you around $20-$50 per sponsored post.

Don’t accept it. Charge more.

A good rule is to charge at least $75 per sponsored post (when your blog is new).

This is because of the time you will spend sending emails, doing research, and writing the content. Not to mention they will review the content and may suggest some editing.

In short, you will be spending approx 5 hours on sponsored posts.

Now it’s up to you to decide your hourly rate.

Anything less than $75 will not be worth your time.

Now, if you have been blogging for some time and you are getting around 10,000 monthly pageviews, you can charge anywhere between $200-$500 per sponsored post.

But make sure not to overdo it.

One sponsored post per month is the right balance between keeping your audience happy. Anything more than that and you risk losing your loyal fans really fast.

4. Using Ebooks

E-books are great to earn some side income. But you need to have at least 15,000 monthly page views.

Why?

Creating an ebook consumes a lot of time. Maybe around 100 hours.

So, it’s always better to make sure you have enough traffic to be on the safe side.

But, here one thing is really important.

Don’t forget to add new content to your blog. Many bloggers stop posting new content and focus all their time on ebooks.

I won’t advise you do to so.

Why?

It’s because once you stop posting new content for at least 1 month, you will see a drop in your organic traffic.

Try to balance your time so that both can be done effectively.

Now that you know how many page views you need to earn money with each form of monetization, it’s time we discuss how you can increase your Pageviews.

How to increase your Pageviews

The most effective way to ensure that you get constant traffic is from search engines.

If you apply the right SEO strategies, you will be able to get at least 20,000 monthly pageviews from Google.

But that will take some time.

How long?

Depending on your niche and efforts, it can take around 6-8 months.

But, it doesn’t mean you have to wait.

You can use Pinterest to generate some targeted traffic while waiting for Google.

The thing with Pinterest is that it’s the savior for many bloggers.

At least it has been for me.

For instance, if you use Pinterest well, you can generate anywhere between 50,000- 100,000 pageviews in less than 6 months.

50,000 – 100,000 per month.

It’s something you cannot ignore, right?

So do you want that kind of traffic?

If yes, then these step-by-step guides will help you.

As you can see, you don’t need to have 100,000 monthly visitors to be able to make a full-time income with your blog.

The most important thing is to have targeted traffic.

What I mean by that is traffic that converts very well. And you will get that either from Google or Pinterest.

That being said, always focus on the quality of your traffic. This will make a huge difference in your earnings.
