Now that you know how much you can potentially make with each ad network, let’s dive deeper into the requirements and tactics you can use to get accepted on Mediavine.
To get accepted on Mediavine, here are some requirements:
As you can see, you need to satisfy all these criteria to be part of this ad network.
Though it can seem really complicated, especially when you have a new blog, with some patience you can be part of Mediavine.
That being said, let’s dive into more details so that you can have a better understanding of the requirements.
1. Minimum traffic requirement
This is probably the most difficult hurdle for every new blogger that wants to get accepted on Mediavine.
Previously the traffic requirement was 25,000 monthly sessions, but since June 2020, they have increased it to 50,000 monthly sessions.
The main reason is that they want to work with bigger websites. Since more publishers can reach 25,000 monthly sessions with the help of Pinterest, they have increased it to 50,000 monthly sessions.
I am sure you must be wondering how on earth will you be able to get that much traffic. Right?
Well, there is always a solution.
If you want to make the same amount with ads, you can choose Ezoic, which is as good as Mediavine.
If you will ask me, I will advise you to choose Ezoic as their Minimum requirement is only 10,000 monthly sessions and you will earn almost the same amount.
That being said, if you are struggling to generate traffic for your blog, then I would highly advise you to try Pinterest.
2. Traffic source requirement
The next thing that they will look at is where most of your traffic is coming from. This is crucial as traffic from the US, U.K or Canada tends to generate the highest RPM.
The thing is that if your blog is getting a lot of traffic but it is not from these 3 countries they will reject your application.
If this is the case, then you can choose Ezoic as they accept traffic from ANY country.
I am sure you must have heard it times and times again that content is king.
Though you don’t necessarily need to create extra long-form content (8,000) words, your content must be at least 1,500 words that have enough depth to cover the query.
You should always try to format your blog posts in a way that helps your audience to get as much information as they can. Then only you are sure that you have created an awesome blog post.
The second thing is that you need to create your content in your own style, which is really important for long-term success.
The benefits of creating content in your own style:
- First, you will be able to create content much faster. Trust me on that. When you are writing down what’s in your head you really create something very unic.
- Second, people who love your style will always come to your blog to check if you have any new content. If they like your style of writing, they will always click on your link whenever you appear on the search results.
That being said, Mediavine is all about maintaining its integrity and its reputation. If your content isn’t good enough, they will reject your application as they will never risk their reputation for you.
Next, if you choose niches like Guns, Sex, or anything that violates Google Adsense’s Policies, your website won’t get accepted. That’s why is crucial to read Google Adsense Policies before you even start your website.
What should you do if you don’t have enough traffic to join Mediavine?
It requires a lot of hard work to be able to generate enough content so that you can generate at least 50,000 monthly sessions.
As a new blogger, this will be your most difficult milestone. Though it can seem really tough in the beginning, there are two ways to make sure that you start to make money faster with ads.
- First you will need to find proven ways to increase your traffic
- Second, you can choose a Mediavine alternative
Let me explain:
1.Grow your Traffic
The first thing you need to know about traffic is that you don’t just need 50,000 monthly sessions to get accepted on Mediavine. You need to develop a strategy that will ensure your website gets traffic for many years to come.
Thus, the first smart thing to do is to focus on SEO. You need to apply the right SEO strategies that will ensure constant traffic for many years. SEO will be the solid foundation for your blog that will hold everything together.
Remember: SEO is a marathon.
SEO (search engine optimization) is not that difficult as it seems.
I can still remember when I first started this blog, I was really confused about SEO and didn’t really know how I should approach things.
But after having done a lot of research and applied different strategies, I found out that only a few things needed to be done (contrary to what most people will tell you) to get a significant amount of traffic to your blog.
Here is how I approach SEO for this blog:
First, and the most important thing is to find and target keywords that have low competition and reasonable search volumes. And for that, you don’t need to have ANY paid keyword research tool.
There are two easy ways to find awesome keywords:
- Use Google search to find low competition keywords for free
- Use Google Planner to find keywords that will rank quickly.
I am using both techniques for this blog and I must say that it’s working really well.
Second, you should choose a blogging strategy that will give you the best results. It’s crucial to do things that other people are not to strive for in this super-competitive market.
If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know that the way I do things is completely different from what you will find online.

The only way to do that is by using social media.
Though I have tried many social media platforms in the last 18 months, I have found that Pinterest is the only social media platform that can bring serious traffic to your new blog.
You don’t believe me?
Well, here is how much traffic a single pin can generate in 1 month:
Now, tell me: Is there any other social media platform that can help you generate 3,120 sessions in 1 month for free?
This is the RAW potential of Pinterest. If you have been around for long enough, you will notice many bloggers who are making a full-time income using Pinterest.
That being said, here is my FULL-GUIDE on how you can use Pinterest to generate massive traffic to your new blog.
Don’t forget to go through it, as Pinterest can be the platform that changes the direction of your blog completely.
2. Find a Mediavine alternative
Reaching 50,000 monthly sessions can take some time. For most new bloggers, to reach that milestone they will need traffic from both Google and Pinterest.
But that doesn’t mean you cannot make money if you are only generating a few thousand sessions per month.
Actually, it’s crucial to start with your blog monetization once you start to get anywhere between 3,000- 5,000 monthly sessions per month.
Also remember, making money from ads is not the only way that a blog can generate money. There are 14 different ways to make money with your blog.
That being said, here are a few Mediavine alternatives that you can consider:
- Ezoic – When it comes to choosing the right ad network, Ezoic is perhaps the best choice for new bloggers. Actually if you can get accepted on Ezoic, you will probable make more money in the long run. To get accepted on this platform, your blog needs to have at least 5,000-10,000 monthly sessions.
If you want more info, then you can read my ultimate comparison where I discussed the pros and cons for both Ezoic and Mediavine.
2. Monumetric – Monumetric is another fantastic ad network for new bloggers. To get accepted on the platform you will need to have only 10,000 monthly sessions.
But there is a catch with Monumetric. You will need to pay an installation fee of $99 which can be really frustrating especially when you are not making any money with your blog.
3. Google Adsense – For any blogger who wants to make some money with ads, Google Adsense can be the right place to start especially when your blog is new.
I know, many people will claim that Google Adsense doesn’t really help you make enough money. Maybe some will tell you that your RPM will be really low.
You must try to know how Google Adsense will work for you. For instance, here is how the RPM fluctuates for my other blog.
I seriously don’t know any Ad network that will ever give you an RPM of $134 on any given day.
That being said, if your blog has low traffic, you can definitely give Google Adsense a try and see how it works for you.
Why am I advising you to give Google Adsense a try?
Well, I have another blog that is doing pretty well with Google Adsense. Here is how much the blog earned (ads only) for August 2021.
In just one month, I made €326.50 and you can see that the average RPM is around €19.83.
