Having Google Adsense on your website is one of the easiest ways to generate income. But, there are certain rules that you need to follow if you want to get accepted on the platform since Google Adsense has very strict Terms of service.

That being said:

Here are some reasons why Adsense rejected your application:

  • Your website is still new
  • You don’t have enough content or the content is of poor quality
  • Your source of traffic is not legit
  • You don’t have a privacy policy on your website
  • Your website’s speed is too low
  • It contains explicit content
  • You have already been banned previously
  • Your content is not original
  • The design of the website is not responsive
  •  You are not an adult

Is Adsense really a good way to earn money?

Of course, it is.

Right now, many bloggers are building niche sites and monetizing their blogs with ad networks. The beauty of having a niche site is that you don’t have to rely on affiliate marketing or courses to generate income.

Now, if you have a blog and you want to earn 50%-250% more than Google Adsense, you can choose an ad network like Ezoic.

Why Ezoic?

The simple reason is that you will need only 10,000 monthly sessions to get accepted into their ad Program.

That being said, let’s how most bloggers make money.

According to a survey done by Viglink, here are the main sources of revenue for bloggers:

SPECIAL NOTE: There are many reasons why Google Adsense will reject your application. But, if you follow the Google Adsense 6 Month Rule, your website will get accepted.

Once your request is accepted, the next thing to do is to BLOCK low-paying ads so that you can make at least $5 PER DAY with Google Adsense.

What should you do if your Adsense application is rejected?

I know it can be really frustrating when Google Adsense rejected your application. I had my application rejected 2 times before I got accepted. That day was really special for me. I thought now I can make a lot of money.

But as you can see, I don’t have any ads on my blog right now. This is because I was not getting enough money for my traffic and it was really distracting me from many important tasks that needed to be done.

Every day I would check my Adsense account and be happy with my $0.30 or $1 per day earnings. But very soon, I noticed that checking Google Adsense and Google Analytics was bringing more stress to my life.

And to cope with that, I decided to focus on creating  5-6 articles per week, till I get around 25,000-page sessions per month.

That being said, it’s not the end of the world if your application got rejected. You can apply again after 1 month and try your luck.

Reasons why your Adsense application got rejected and what can you do about it

1. Your website is brand new

When you have a brand-new website, your application will likely get rejected. This is because Google Adsense doesn’t want to work with websites that have not yet established any kind of authority.

As you might have heard about the Adsense 6-month rule, it’s better to wait till your website ages.

A better alternative will be to choose an ad network that can help you make more than Google Adsense.

SPECIAL NOTE: When it comes to making money with ads, EZOIC is the best option for new bloggers.

This is because it has no minimum traffic requirement and new websites will get the highest RPM.

Create your Ezoic account now, and start to make money with ads.

2. You don’t have enough content or your content is of poor quality

To be able to get accepted for Google Adsense you must at least prove that your blog is a source of good content. Since Google must protect its reputation and its advertisers it will never accept a website that doesn’t have enough content.

Also, if you are creating thin content (300-600) words, your chance of getting accepted decreases exponentially. So, focus on creating content that has at least 1,000 words.

Google constantly changes its algorithms to make provide better search results. Do you think it will ever rank content that is of low quality?

That being said, once you have created at least 20-30 blog posts of high quality, you will be accepted on the platform.

3. Your content has explicit material

Google favors content that will help its users. Having content on drugs, sex, or any kind of explicit material, is a clear indication that the content is not worth it.

If you read Google Adsense Publisher’s policy, you will see that these types of content are not approved:

  • Content that promotes illegal activities or infringes on the legal rights of others.
  • Content that sells or promotes counterfeit products.
  • Content that promotes sales of endangered species.
  • Content that incites hatred, promotes discrimination, or disparages an individual.
  • Content that misguides people.
  • Content that contains malicious or unwanted software.
  • Sexually explicit content.
  • Content that is related to child abuse or exploitation.

4. Your content is not original

Having original content is not only good for your reputation and brand, but it is also an indication that you are someone that can be trusted. In the content marketing world, TRUST is vital if you want to earn money consistently.

Besides, I don’t think people will genuinely read your content if you have copied it from another blog. Also, if you copy any kind of content, even a paragraph, your plagiarism score will increase.

So, whenever you are creating content, make are that you add your own spin to it. Trust me on that.

What I have noticed is this: People will come to your blog if you provide useful information and if they LOVE your style of writing. Writing in your own style is the best way to create loyal fans and increase your engagement.

I know in the beginning it can be really difficult to write everything in your own words. But after a few months, you will see that creating content will become really easy for you.

For instance, in the beginning, I was spending a lot of time creating even 1 blog post. If I can remember, it took me 2 days to create my first blog post.

Now, if I have done my research well, I can create a blog post in 30 minutes.

30 minutes because I can write in my own style which makes all the difference.

5. Your source of traffic is not legit

Though it might be very tempting to buy traffic to get some initial momentum, I will never advise you to do so. Getting traffic from legit sources like social media and forums is really crucial to building any kind of authority.

I know how hard it can be to get enough traffic to a new blog. That’s why I always tell my readers to leverage social media, especially Pinterest to generate enough traffic so that they can start to earn money.

If you will wait for organic traffic, then it will take some time. At least 6-12 months. And I know, most bloggers don’t have that level of patience.

That’s why when you use Pinterest, you will get enough traffic to at least see your blog making some bucks.

6. You don’t have a privacy policy on your website

Many people get their applications rejected by Adsense because they don’t have a privacy policy page. This is something that many website owners often overlook.

Having a privacy policy is mandatory for any online business. It is required by law if you collect personal information from users. Actually many third-party services collect information to enhance your website and having a privacy policy is required.

Not to mention, even Google analytics requires you to have a privacy policy page because they store cookies on any user’s device.

If you don’t have a privacy policy page, you can easily generate one for free. Head over to the TermsFeed page to generate your free privacy policy page.

7. You have already been banned previously

If your account has been banned in the past, your application will automatically get rejected. To solve this issue you will need to get in touch with Adsense’s customer support.

But don’t be surprised if they don’t want to work with you anymore. Once you have broken the trust of Google, it will be really difficult to get accepted.

The truth is: Google Adsense doesn’t need your blog, it’s you who need their platform. That’s why it’s always advisable to follow their policies.

If that is the case, then you need to create a new Google and submit your application again.

8. The design of the website is not responsive

Having a responsive website is absolutely necessary for this age. Using themes that are very clean and don’t have fancy colors is really important.

Far too many people try to add too many elements on their page as they think it will look cool.

My dear friend, your website needs to be responsive on any mobile device so that people can read your content with ease.

Having a mobile-friendly website is not only good for a good user experience, but it’s also crucial for SEO.

9. Your website’s speed is too low

Have you ever done a page speed test to see how your website performs?

If you haven’t then head over to GTMetrix and get your results.

For this blog, the results look like this:

I am really very fussy about page speed. This is because I want my readers to have access to information very fast. Since bounce rate is a ranking factor, always try to decrease it.

No one will wait for 20 seconds to read your article. It really doesn’t work like that.

That being said, your application can get rejected if your website is really very slow. Also, Google will collaborate with websites that are accessible all the time. It means that your website must have a downtime of at least 99.5.

If you choose to host your website from companies like Bluehost, you will get a downtime of 99.9.

SPECIAL NOTE: I'm really thrilled to let you know that you can now start your own blog with Bluehost for just $2.95 per month when you use this exclusive link.

That's only an upfront investment of $36 for 1 year, which is over 60% off regular pricing. Plus, you will get a free domain name ($15 value) if you sign up for at least 12 months.

I don't really know when this exclusive offer will end, so take advantage of this offer before it's gone.

10. You are not an adult

For you to be eligible to apply for Google Adsense, you must be at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, then you can tell your parents to apply on your behalf.

This is the best solution.

Final thoughts: Why AdSense rejected your application
